The world is being invited to level up in a big way, and it’s a lot to be with. I’ve been inviting myself to stay in the land of being vs. doing as much as possible, and it’s been challenging, but there is a mamma jamma breakthrough happening over here. It’s still new. I can barely see the light at the end of the tunnel, and when I do, I often think I see a freight train charging at me. You might say I’ve been resisting this breakthrough my entire life until now… Needless to say, it’s a doozy!

I’ve been thinking a lot about alignment lately…

To me, alignment is very closely related to integrity. A couple questions I tend to ask when I’m checking in with these types of things are: Where am I in? Where am I out? These two questions are a simple way to begin some self inquiry with yourself so you can get honest about where you’re placing your resources, how you’re showing up, etc.

As I take an elevated look at where I am choosing to put my time, money, and energy, I notice that there has been some stuff to let go of.

These times that we are alive in are wild, and one of the things that I am most grateful for is that I’m getting to see what people truly stand for. Where the substance is and where the substance isn’t. Where there is bypassing going on. Where there’s not.

I get to be curious about all that stuff that’s happening in the middle ground as we know that nothing tends to be black or white even though it feels like it during a time where humanity seems to be completely and utterly polarized. I know it doesn’t feel great, but it’s a necessary part of transformation.

There would’ve been a time I would not have been ready for what is going on, but all the training I’ve taken on in the personal development arena seems like it was, literally, in preparation for this. And, it’s still A LOT!

My biggest commitment as a leader is to lead by example and practice what I preach, which is why it feels aligned for me to let some sh*t go. People, organizations, things I had planned — you name it! It’s all under the microscope right now.

The things that do not align with my core values and beliefs are at the top of the list to get cut. As I release these things, I do it with love because while they may still be for someone, they are not for me.

When we come from alignment, we find that we don’t have to force. It’s energizing. It’s smooth. It doesn’t feel like we are getting trapped in a choice that could be oppositional to another. It feels like we’re making moves knowing that if they don’t end up being the ones, we just go back in the opposite direction and make a new move. Alignment provides security.

If you and I are connected on social media, you may notice that I have begun brining advocacy into The Bold Thing. For me, it has been misaligned that this hasn’t been a focus of my business thus far.

I began my hand at advocating in grade school when I had the idea to bring a petition door to door to gather enough signatures to enroll my elementary school in getting rid of styrofoam lunch trays. As I’m sure you can imagine, I was told NO because “It’s too expensive”.

In that moment, I vividly remember deciding that it wasn’t safe to trust adults. I felt this way because as a child, it was clear to me that the way we were caring for the planet was unsustainable. It felt alarming, to say the least, that the people who were supposed to be in charge were so short sighted. Is it any wonder I had horrible anxiety as a kid?!?

From there, I went on to become infatuated with a fake lawyer character I made up, Virginia Staten, Attorney at Law. When I took on the persona of Viginia, I felt like I could take on the world.

My passion for law shifted from wanting to be a lawyer to desiring to become a criminal psychologist and work in forensics as the years progressed. My idea of a dream job was actually working with serial killers! As a youngster, it was also abundantly clear to me that our way of treating criminals didn’t lend itself to any sort of rehabilitation at all, and that just wasn’t okay.

Because I always knew I had a passion for psychology, social justice and serving, it is the most aligned feeling to make my business a both/and to share the types of things I’ve always shared and to now include advocacy, awareness, calls to action, etc.

Are YOU making aligned choices and living an aligned life?

For anyone seeking some additional support and alignment as we close out summer and transition into fall, I’m going to be offering another 2 month experience, which will, once again, be limited to 4 people.

This will consist of:
— 2 ninety minute Zoom sessions each month
— $350 if paid in full or $200 for each month (Look around at the world… YOU are your safest investment!)
— We will be staying connected in between sessions via the Voxer app to celebrate wins, receive support with challenges, share about what we’re practicing, and just have a sacred space we know is there and use however and whenever we need it. (Community is so important right now!)
— We will kick off next week, and I still have some flexibility with days/times, and I’m looking at either Wednesday or Thursday. (I’ll do my best to create it so it works for those who are interested.)

One of the awesome in the summer group I’m currently running had this to say after our first session kicked off in July:
“Hi guys! It was such a pleasure meeting you all today. I loved hearing what you had to share, speaking with you all and learning from you! I have felt really happy and peaceful since our zoom ended & I’m realizing that it’s just so nice to collaborate & be in community with like-minded humans. K, I also loved that you said you wanted/needed to be in community with people who were talking about the same things as you. That is so good! And it helped me realize I was craving that as well. Spending time with you guys today  made me feel so seen, heard and understood. Thank you for that gift. I look forward to walking through our journeys together over the next 2 months.”
