Hello, my friend!
If you’re new to my blog, welcome! This is a way that I like to connect with you and share the things that I believe matter most when it comes to transforming your life, business, and career in a sustainable way.
If you’re a returning reader, it’s so good to be with you again. I hope you’ve been well since my last share.
I have a handful of themes, that I rotate between, that I find to be most pertinent for mindset work and the science of transformation. The theme of today’s blog post is entrepreneurship. If you’re reading this and you’re one of my intrapreneurs, do any of your entrepreneurial spirited friends need to see anything in here? If you’re not an entrepreneur, but you’re considering it at some point, you’ll definitely want to stick around for this one!
Since I started my business almost 6 years ago, I’ve been very candid about sharing the highlights and the challenges because I believe it’s important to normalize both. There’s always an up to a down and a pro to a con. Only sharing the highlight reel is just not my style.
When I was traveling home from holiday in MN, I was feeling pretty grateful for my ability to make my own schedule when I got home 31 hours later than planned due to connecting flights being cancelled and all other flights being full due to the heavy travel season.
Now, I will admit that there were some slights feelings of panic as I watched the precious time (that I reserved to learn my new CRM and put my office back together) slip away. I did what any coach would do, and I noticed that an old mindset pattern was being triggered around my “not enough” story all while being reminded that I’m not in control of anything.
I knew this would create an unsavory experience when I got back home, so I began doing the work to choose how I wanted to be about it right off the bat. It’s about staying ahead of it, my peeps. Anytime we can get ahead of our shit, that’s where we wanna be.
Rather than continue sharing my love of being self-employed, I want to take a turn off the trendy path to say that entrepreneurship is not for everyone.
Lately, I hear a lot of people saying things like, “I hate my job. I’m going to quit and start a business .” They say it like it’s going to be an easier solution than being an employee. Let me tell you, firsthand, that while I would not trade being an entrepreneur for anything, it’s definitely not easier than having someone telling you what to do and holding you accountable to do it.
My invitation to anyone interested in, potentially, going into biz for themselves is this: Explore before leaping. Talking to someone like me first to get clarity is a great idea! If entrepreneurship does end up being for you, you have a much higher success rate if an expert supports you in creating the plan for it.
I mean… if you’ve never run a business, why would you expect yourself to know how?! Sounds like a lot of unnecessary pressure to put on yourself to me, which will likely place you in the high percentage rate of all the businesses who don’t make it past their first year–Not on my watch!
Also, intentional leaping is the difference between crazy and creating. People watch things that my clients and I do and often think it’s too risky. What they don’t know is that we’ve been planning this out. It’s very different when you’re opening yourself up to divine intelligence and creating the path vs. taking whatever path you think you have to have.
For example, I recently shared that I’m heading out to Denver in March to begin training to add yoga therapy to my toolkit. (I’M SO EXCITED!) I’ve know I wanted to do this for almost 2 years, but I’ve been waiting for the time to be aligned. Notice I didn’t say right, but aligned.
I almost forced it back in the fall, but I could tell that I had some scandals to handle first. Like, learn the new CRM software I started using so I can continue growing my business sustainably, lead a retreat by myself for the first time, complete a package with a marketing coach, etc.
As an entrepreneur when the time is aligned but you don’t have access to the funds, what do you do?
I won’t tell you what to do, but I can tell you what I did back when money was scarce, I found a way to make it happen anyway and not everyone has the drive to do that. Part of the reason I’m a good business woman is because I always land on my feet, and I know that about myself.
Again, I won’t tell you what to do, but waiting until the money is there is what most entrepreneurs do and sometimes you’ve just gotta play a bigger game than that or the money will never be there. I took on some serious debt when I started my sweet biz, y’all, but sometimes, debt can be in integrity.
I think the trials and tribulations of an entrepreneur are different for each of us and the intention this newsletter isn’t to deter anyone but rather to make you think more mindfully than you may have before.
If you want a business and you’re willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen, you’re gonna be okay. If you’re not, I’d rethink it, or at least, talk it out with someone.
Entrepreneurs babes, I’d like to invite you to come to Costa Rica April 11-18 if that would be in alignment for you. Your biz will thank you because when the CEO has a full cup and is in her POWer, the business flourishes.
Not an entrepreneur? As long as you’re a gal, you’re invited. All I ask is that you’ve taken on some sort of intentional stretching work already because this was a private retreat I created for clients, and I have 2 spots left. I’m capping it off and 8 souls because I love working intimately within a group setting, and my intuition says 8 is the number.
All the bungalows are taken, so you’ll get in at $1665 if you pay in full. This if for a full week in Costa Rica, 3 meals a day, and all the magic I’ll be serving up. CRAZY great deal! Email me if you want to talk this out. If you want it, we’ll make it happen.
This was what one attendee had to say bout my last retreat. Of course, this one is different, but it’s powerful, so sharing anyway.
“Jenn’s Fall retreat at Art of Living was soul nourishing, healing and energizing. Jenn struck the perfect balance of introspection and rejuvenation. The coaching exercises we did helped open my heart and connect me to my values and goals. This was especially powerful as we were heading into the holiday season and the end of the year. Because of the work Jenn had us do, I was able to stay grounded through the chaos of the Holiday Season – allowing me to stay focused on self-care and my goals. Jenn also incorporated the physical body with gentle yoga and essential oils which created space to reflect on the coaching work we did. And she topped it all off with built in free time to explore the beauty of the mountain, socialize, or just take in the work as deeply as possible. I cannot tell you enough how much my soul needed this retreat and I didn’t even know it. If you are craving peace, power, and clarity – this is the retreat for you!”
As always, please, share this post with anyone who may need to see it. Often times, my greatest gifts come from my tribe who are looking out for me.
Need more connection?!? I’m quite active in my social media stories. Come and say hi!
