The reasons that I give myself the gift of retreats that are rooted in slowing down and supporting the nervous system are as follows: 

  • Stillness is access to intuition. Most of us can’t hear past our 5 senses because we don’t know how to slow down in a world that continuously speeds up.
  • It’s a practice in putting myself first, which is so important, especially if we are people pleasers. People pleasing is truly like cancer. We get to practice wearing our own oxygen mask before we show up for anyone else because we can show up more effectively. Very important for parents to consider, especially moms.
  • If you change the way you look at something, it changes. Unless we clear the cobwebs off our brain and nervous system, we will only be able to create from the past, so the mindset shift won’t stick.
  • When you’re revved up, the divine can’t talk to you. I know I get revved up easily, so I have to be responsible for that and constantly create opportunities to bring it down.
  • Stress places your focus on the external world vs. the internal. There’s no power to create an amazing life when our energy is placed there.
  • When we are taking on practices that allow us to release oxytocin (the happiness hormone), our cortisol (stress hormone) lowers. When this happens, the field around our hearts gets bigger. When you’re around other humans doing the same thing, it doubles.
  • Vulnerability is where you get your victory. Vulnerability doesn’t happen when we are hanging out by ourselves.

All these reasons are why I also host retreats. I would never invite you to invest your time, money, and energy in anything that hasn’t transformed my life.
