I hope this Wednesday finds you creating magic in your lives, businesses, and careers. There’s so much available to us from that place. Personally, when I’m present to magical experiences, I know it means I’m landing on the right amount of love and rigor for myself.

On Monday, I got to talk to an amazing soul who was interested in exploring a coaching partnership to support her in creating more space for herself. We decided to set up a (re)discovery call for this morning so she could test drive the work to see if it was a good fit for her.

Upon awaking, I had a message asking if we could reschedule because the day was “crazy busy”. I wasn’t too surprised to get this text because, typically, if someone is interested in working with me to create space for themselves, they are skilled at putting anything and everything in the way of that with busyness being one of the top culprits.

I know we can all relate to the kind of morning this gal was having — we live full lives!

The first thing I let her know was that showing up to the call was her choice, and she didn’t need my permission.

Here’s what I said next:
The reflection that I have for you based on the brief conversation we had is that part of you taking care of you is to choose to do it even in the face of “crazy busy”. “Crazy busy” is when most of us put ourself down the list, and it’s actually when we need it most — taking a pause in your day to give yourself 60 minutes of coaching is one of the best self-care practices I know of.

I would invite you to show up because that’s the choice that will actually get you out of the “crazy busy” pattern. You not coming to our call is a choice that will keep you inside of it because “crazy busy” is a mindset, and it’s one I’d like to see you put down. You get to have time for you when things are busy! You NEED to have time for you when things are busy.

What do you choose for yourself in service of creating the life that you told me you want to create?

I invite each you to take a look for yourselves at all the times you chose busyness over what would actually serve you most.

What’s the impact of giving yourself the message that you don’t matter or that you don’t get to have your needs met until you have time?

What would be possible in your life, business, and job if you were able to put yourself first, so your cup is full? So you can show up fully for everyone and everything vs. run yourself ragged and share your leftover scraps with your clients, children, and family.

For me, this will be lifelong work, but getting to see that my continued practice makes progress is what keeps me going.

I’d love to hear one way you will (no shit, no kidding) commit to showing up for yourself even when things get busy, especially when things get busy. Reply here!
