Welcome, my friend!

As you know, my jam is all about supporting others to realize and actualize their bold vision. What you may not know is that I’m committed to seeing people do this in a sustainable way.

Part of how I have learned to create in a way that doesn’t burn me out is to heavily support my nervous system — This is why everything I offer you is centered around this. (Wink Wink)

I chose this route for myself because my system has recorded a lot of trauma.

Transformation would often spin me out when not paired with things to release trauma and deactivate the nervous system. Not only did I experience extreme overwhelm, but I struggled to hear my inner wisdom, which doesn’t work when your’re in a business that requires access to intuition.

Trauma isn’t limited to what some may consider to be warranted events like car accidents, abuse, etc. It’s registered as such if you perceived what happened as trauma.

I have an amazing guest article to share with you by one of my very best friends about her experience when it comes to trusting her intuition under the veil of a trauma response.

I’m SO excited to share this with you!

“On a cold morning in the winter of 1978, I took my first breath in my human form.  The strength of my star seed energy rushed out of my chosen mother’s womb ready for my time of learning on earth. My mother was chosen carefully, knowing her and I would grow together through trauma, grief, and love.  And this knowing proved true and found my human self with reduced resilience and increased traumatic experiences leading to depression and suicidal thoughts by the time I was in 4th grade and my current diagnosis of Complex PTSD.  Being a strong star seed, I also arrived highly sensitive and with great intuitive abilities.  Fully leaning into my human experience, my coping skills brought me the ability to turn off my intuition and sensitivities as I got through the worst of the years.  In my 30’s, I realized it was time for some repairs and to reconnect to my intuition.  Upon reconnection, I found confusion and trust issues with myself.  This is where my healing journey began.  I share below what I have learned about trauma’s impact on intuition and how to allow our sacred intuitive nature to overcome this impact.

As humans, we all have a capacity at which we max out when it comes to managing our internal emotional processes.  While everyone’s capacity is different, we all have access to the ability to increase this capacity.  We have all seen people who could be described as having a short fuse or know people who are known as being a calming and controlled presence.  These are two examples of people with different capacities for managing emotions, while the possibilities run the spectrum.  These different capacities are a culmination of past experiences, resilience, coping skills, support networks and amounts of completed shadow work that leads to building our emotional capacities.  These building blocks of emotional capacity can become unbalanced when we experience traumatic events, and hence limit our emotional capacity.  This dysregulation can be especially pronounced in people who may meet diagnostic criteria for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or Complex PTSD.

As humans, we also all have the capacity to receive intuitive messages.  Some may be highly intuitive, and others may be less connected to their intuition.  When a person is both highly intuitive and impacted by past trauma, things can get complicated!  A trauma response can manifest in many different ways, and the most relevant to this conversation is hyperarousal, also called hypervigilance.  In this trauma reaction, the person stays in the heightened state of readiness long after the danger from the trauma is gone; it is an ongoing biological change in the body caused by the traumatic event that creates mixed signals regarding what may or may not be safe (SAMHSA, 2014).  For those of us who use our intuition regularly, we know how important it is to trust what our bodies/mind/spirit are telling us.  The impacts of hyperarousal will muddy these messages.

How do we use our intuition effectively when we have an ongoing biological response caused by past trauma that is creating mixed signals?  The answer resides in shadow work, or for those less inclined to that terminology, the answer resides in working with a healing modality like therapy.  That means for those of us with a lingering trauma response, we have the opportunity to dive deep into ourselves and re-wire our emotional pathways.  My suggestion is to always work with a professional on this re-wiring journey.  I have found support through yoga therapy, EMDR/trauma counseling, coaching, reiki, shamanic healing, and guided meditations.”
